Emmanuel Frimpong

Emmanuel Frimpong is a Professor in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech, part of the College of Natural Resources and Environment. His research focuses on freshwater fish ecology, conservation, and sustainable aquaculture, particularly addressing anthropogenic impacts like habitat alteration and climate change. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Science & Technology (Ghana), M.S. degrees from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Virginia Tech, and a Ph.D. from Purdue University.

Key research interests include predicting species distribution shifts under environmental changes and developing management strategies for threatened species. He has led projects funded by USAID, USGS, and others, exploring topics such as tilapia adaptation to climate conditions and stream fish distribution modeling. His work often integrates field observations, computational modeling, and statistical analysis.

Recent publications highlight studies on crayfish distributions, bluehead chub nesting dynamics, and the impact of aquaculture on inland fisheries. He teaches courses on fisheries techniques, fish ecology, and ecological data modeling.
