Emmanuel Frimpong Boamah

Emmanuel Frimpong Boamah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University at Buffalo's School of Architecture and Planning. He is affiliated with the Community for Global Health Equity and serves on Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper's board. His research focuses on institutional reform for environmental justice in Sub-Saharan Africa and the U.S.

His work examines institutional drivers of land, water, and housing inequities, advocating for polycentric governance frameworks. He uses mixed-methods including social network analysis and systems dynamics.

Recent publications address fintech regulation, environmental governance, and urban food systems in Africa. He collaborates with the WHO Urban Health Unit on housing and health guidelines. Awards include ACSP Junior Faculty of Color Fellowship (2019) and UB Graduate Student Planning Association's Outstanding Faculty Award (2019).
