Emma Robson is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at Charles Sturt University, within the School of Allied Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences. She currently serves as the part-time Workplace Learning Coordinator for the Occupational Therapy program based at Port Macquarie, bringing extensive experience in psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery-oriented mental health services.
Emma holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Occupational Therapy) with Honours from the University of Newcastle. Her educational background has provided a strong foundation for her work in mental health services and occupational therapy education.
Her research interests center on the implementation of evidence-based models of employment and education supports within mental health services in the Australian context. She is particularly focused on:
- Vocational rehabilitation for individuals with mental illness
- Co-occurring substance use treatment approaches
- Occupational therapy interventions for eating disorders
- Partnership approaches in mental health service delivery
- Training and education of support staff in the mental health sector
Emma's professional contributions include developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based employment and education programs across NSW mental health services. She has dedicated over 10 years to teaching undergraduate Occupational Therapy students as a casual academic, with particular expertise in mental health education.
She is a registered Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and has worked extensively in student support services within university settings. Her commitment to equitable access to employment support for people with lived experience of mental illness drives her ongoing contributions to local practice-based research in this field.
