Emma Mohr is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, specializing in pediatric infectious diseases. She directs the Physician Scientist Training Pathway and serves as associate director of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship.
Her research focuses on congenital viral infections (particularly Zika virus and mpox), maternal immune responses, and neurodevelopmental outcomes using translational nonhuman primate models. She leads the Mohr Research Group investigating pathogenesis of prenatal infections and long-term childhood development.
Her recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on viral pathogenesis in primate models, with emphasis on vertical transmission mechanisms, maternal-fetal interface dynamics, and therapeutic interventions for prenatal infections.
She mentors trainees through pediatric infectious disease fellowships and research programs, securing funding for congenital infection studies and primate model development.
The Mohr Research Group employs multidisciplinary approaches including immunology, virology, and neurodevelopmental assessment to understand congenital infection outcomes.
