Emma Lawlor

Dr. Emma Lawlor is Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow leading the active travel work package for the GALLANT project (Glasgow As a Living Lab Accelerating Novel Transformation). Her research evaluates active travel interventions including walking/cycling infrastructure and community-based behavioral programs.

Her work focuses on low-traffic neighborhoods, school travel interventions, and equity impacts of active transport policies. Methodologically, she specializes in mixed-methods approaches including systematic reviews, natural experiments, and participatory research with communities.

Lawlor's publications demonstrate consistent focus on intervention effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, and children's mobility experiences. Recent work examines methodological challenges in active travel research and implementation barriers for urban interventions.

She co-convenes the 'Improving Health and Society' module in the MSc Global Health program and contributes to transport policy evaluations for UK government agencies. Research funding includes Carnegie Trust and Horizon Europe grants supporting studies on mass transit integration and public transport accessibility.
