Emma Jenkinson

Emma Jenkinson is a Lecturer in Clinical Genomics at the Division of Evolution, Infection and Genomics, The University of Manchester. Her research focuses on genetic disorders, mitochondrial biology, and molecular mechanisms underlying neurological and developmental conditions. She has contributed to understanding genetic variants linked to leukoencephalopathy, Perrault syndrome, and interferonopathies through interdisciplinary approaches combining clinical genetics, zebrafish models, and genomic analysis. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.

Education: Completed a thesis on 'The Genes Involved in Hearing and Endocrine Disorders' in 2012, supervised by Professors Davis and Newman at the same institution.

Research Interests: Emma’s expertise spans clinical genomics, mitochondrial dysfunction, and genetic mutations in rare neurological disorders. She employs zebrafish models to study RNA processing defects and their impact on human disease.
