Emma Hsu is a 2023 graduate of the Master’s of Asian International Affairs (MAIA) program at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and is currently pursuing a PhD in World History at the same institution. She holds the position of Adjunct Fellow (Non-resident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) within the Renewing American Innovation Project. Her work focuses on the dynamics of technology transmission and the interplay between state, elite, and civilian power structures.
Research Interests: Emma’s research explores critical intersections of technology transfer, international relations, and geopolitical power dynamics. She is particularly interested in how intellectual property protection influences global manufacturing strategies and the socio-political implications of technological innovation.
Key Publication: Emma’s capstone research, “Manufacturing beyond Shores: The Taiwanese Checklist Approach to Intellectual Property Protection”, published by CSIS, highlights her expertise in intellectual property policies and global economic security.
