Emma Henderson is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the School of Humanities, Keele University. She holds a Master’s in Creative Writing from Birkbeck (2006) and has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Hawthornden Fellowship (2020). Her work spans novels, short stories, and literary translations, with notable publications including Grace Williams Says It Loud (2010) and The Valentine House (2017). She has supervised five PhD candidates to completion and currently leads seven PhD supervisions.
Her research interests include creative writing pedagogy, historical fiction, and narrative techniques. Her short stories have appeared in venues like the Mechanics Institute Review and Apis Books. Awards highlight her contributions to literature, including multiple shortlistings for major prizes.
Emma’s career includes residencies at Cove Park and extensive engagement with literary communities. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in fiction, poetry, and life writing, emphasizing creative practice and critical analysis.
