Emma Cross is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Education at Curtin University, part of the Faculty of Humanities. She coordinates the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Educational Studies courses and serves as an Associate Investigator with the Australian Research Council’s Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child. Her research focuses on digital technologies in early learning, leadership in early childhood services, and fostering creative thinking through innovative pedagogies.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Marketing, a Master of Teaching in Early Childhood Education, and is pursuing a PhD on leadership in Early Childhood Services. Her work integrates practical experience as a former centre director with academic research, including collaborations with institutions like Scitech to develop digital learning tools.
Emma’s awards include the 2024 New Voice in Early Childhood Leadership and 2022 Early Childhood Australia Barbara Creaser Young Advocate of the Year. She has secured grants for research projects and co-leads Curtin’s Early Childhood Education Research Cluster. Her recent publications highlight digital technology integration, parent-child dynamics in digital play, and leadership frameworks in early childhood sectors.
