Emma Borg is Professor of Philosophy at the University of London's School of Advanced Studies, with research spanning philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, and business ethics. She is known for developing and defending 'minimal semantics' in philosophy of language and investigating the nature of pain perception and chronic pain.

Professor Borg directs the Reading Centre for Cognition Research and holds a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship for her work on human agency. Her current research examines linguistic responsibility, hate speech identification, and the philosophical implications of large language models.
Recent publications demonstrate Borg's interdisciplinary approach, combining philosophical analysis with empirical methods to investigate topics ranging from the semantics/pragmatics divide to public understanding of chronic pain. Her work on business ethics explores the social responsibilities of corporations and epistemic virtues in finance. As an Independent Advisor to the Professional Standards Committee of HMRC, she contributes expertise on ethical governance.
