Emir Cakaroz is a Lecturer in Communication at Lake Forest College, specializing in documentary film production and cinema studies. His academic background includes an MFA in Film Production from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and dual BA/MA degrees in Cinema and Television from Anadolu University, Turkey.
Research interests focus on documentary filmmaking techniques, Middle Eastern/North African cinema, and the intersection of media arts with cultural identity. He teaches courses such as Documentary Production, Middle Eastern Cinema, and Editing Theory.
Award highlights include a 2011 Mary L. Nohl Fellowship (Emerging Category) and the 2006 IFSAK National Film Festival Best Short Documentary. His filmography includes works like One Money (2014), Two Photographs (2012), and the TV series Fragman (2004–2007).
