Emine Yaylalı

Dr. Emine Yaylalı is an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Technical University's Department of Industrial Engineering and concurrently affiliated with the Department of Business Administration. She holds a PhD from North Carolina State University. Her research focuses on optimization, simulation, and stochastic processes applied to public health challenges, particularly in infectious disease modeling (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis C), healthcare resource allocation, and cost-effectiveness analysis.

Education: PhD in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University (2010-2012), Master’s degree from the same institution (2007-2010), and a Bachelor’s degree from Boğaziçi University’s Industrial Engineering Department (2002-2007). She also served as a Research Assistant at NC State (2007-2012).

Her work emphasizes mathematical modeling for public health interventions, including HIV prevention strategies, pandemic response (e.g., COVID-19 modeling for Istanbul), and evaluating healthcare policies. She received the CROI 2016 Young Investigator Scholarship for her contributions to HIV research. Her recent projects address optimizing antiretroviral therapy initiation, fissure sealant cost-effectiveness, and pandemic non-pharmaceutical interventions.
