Dr. Emin Karakurt serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Pathology at Kafkas University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where he has been continuously employed since 2012. His academic journey includes completing his PhD in Veterinary Pathology (2018) through a joint program between Kafkas University and Atatürk University, following his veterinary medicine degree from Yüzüncü Yıl University (2012).
His research spans multiple dimensions of veterinary pathology with particular emphasis on immunohistochemical techniques, oxidative stress mechanisms, and animal cancer biology. Dr. Karakurt's work demonstrates strong integration of molecular pathology approaches with traditional diagnostic methods to investigate disease mechanisms across various species including cattle, sheep, dogs, and rodents. His expertise encompasses both naturally occurring diseases and experimentally induced models.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals consistent focus on oxidative stress markers (MDA, 8-OHdG), tumor suppressor genes (p53), cell proliferation markers (PCNA), and inflammatory mediators (TNF-α, IFN-γ) across diverse pathological conditions. His work bridges fundamental research with clinical applications, particularly in veterinary oncology and infectious disease pathology.
- Primary investigator on multiple research projects including studies on canine mammary tumors, bovine ocular squamous cell carcinoma, and sheeppox virus infections
- Principal advisor for Master's theses focusing on canine mammary adenocarcinoma and bovine ocular squamous cell carcinoma
- Recipient of institutional research funding supporting investigations into veterinary pathological conditions
Dr. Karakurt maintains active collaboration with numerous researchers across Turkey, particularly within Kafkas University's veterinary pathology network, contributing to both basic science and clinically relevant veterinary medical knowledge.
