Emily Nelson serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in General Education at the University of Utah and Adjunct Faculty at Westminster College, teaching Opera Studio, World Music, and applied voice. She holds a DMA from the University of Utah.
Her research focuses on Early Music traditions spanning medieval, renaissance, and baroque periods, with specialization in vocal performance and historical interpretation. As co-founder of Utopia Early Music (2009), she actively bridges performance practice with pedagogy through ensemble work.
Nelson's soprano performances emphasize coloratura techniques and supernatural character portrayals in both traditional and experimental opera contexts. She maintains that active performance directly enriches her teaching methodology across institutions.
