Dr. Emily McCann is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research within the Dementia & Neuro Mental Health Research Unit. As a Casual Academic at the School of Psychology, her work focuses on visuoperceptual impairments in neurodegenerative diseases and the development of the Parkinson's Disease specific cognitive toolkit for harmonized cognitive assessment. Her research spans both Queensland Brain Institute and University of Queensland institutions.

Dr. McCann specializes in Biological psychology, Clinical neuropsychology, and Cognitive neuroscience within neurodegenerative contexts. Her work addresses visuoperceptual impairments, early dementia detection, and neuroimaging techniques. Current projects include systematic reviews of cognitive toolkits for Parkinson's Disease and studies on phase consistency in brain networks during visual attention tasks.
Collaborative Research
She actively collaborates with the Cognitive Neurology (Nestor) lab at Queensland Brain Institute, contributing to studies on pareidolia mechanisms, iron deposition in movement disorders, and MRI resolution improvements for cortical degeneration assessment. Her methodological expertise includes high-resolution MRI analysis, electrophysiological measurements, and social cognition test development.
