Emily Kress is the William A. Dyer, Jr. Assistant Professor of the Humanities in the Philosophy Department at Brown University. Her research focuses on ancient Greek philosophy, particularly Aristotle's teleological causation, capacities, and methods in biological explanation. She holds a PhD from Yale University (2018) and BA from the University of Western Ontario (2012). Her work examines Aristotle's accounts of natural teleology, spontaneous generation, and the interplay between agency and material processes in biological systems.
