Emily Johnson is an Instructor in the Department of Journalism & Media Communication at Colorado State University (CSU), serving part-time since Fall 2023. She previously held roles as JTC 300 Program Coordinator, overseeing teaching assistants and course development. Her research focuses on creativity, identity, media studies, environmental communication, and feminism, with a notable publication exploring Pinterest’s role in feminist self-presentation during wedding planning.
Education: Ph.D. and M.S. in Public Communication and Technology (CSU); B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication (Iowa State University), with a home design and staging certification (2022). She maintains a parallel career through her interior design business, The Collected Self, and antique retail in northern Colorado.
Teaching emphasizes strategic writing, advertising, and corporate communication. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in digital platforms like Instagram and Pinterest.
