Dr. Emily H. Wughalter is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at San José State University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Herbert H. Lehman College (CUNY), a Master of Science from the University of Colorado, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Georgia, specializing in motor learning. Dr. Wughalter teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in perceptual motor learning, focusing on how practice influences skill acquisition, memory, and performance.
Her research centers on motor learning processes, with emphasis on optimizing practice conditions to enhance learning outcomes. She investigates contextual interference effects, skill retention mechanisms, and interdisciplinary approaches to kinesiology. Dr. Wughalter has held national leadership positions, including President of the Research Consortium of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
