Emily E Rosowski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University, affiliated with the College of Science and the Clemson University School of Health Research. Her research focuses on host-pathogen interactions, particularly using zebrafish larvae to study fungal infections like Aspergillus fumigatus. She investigates innate immune responses, emphasizing macrophages and neutrophils, employing cutting-edge imaging and genetic techniques.
Dr. Rosowski holds a Ph.D. in Biology from MIT (2013) and a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2007). She teaches courses such as Basic Immunology and Senior Seminar in Microbiology/Biological Sciences.
Her lab’s work explores how innate immune cells combat fungal pathogens, including the role of Rac2 signaling, glucocorticoid effects on neutrophil function, and PGE2-mediated phagocyte activity. The lab uses zebrafish models to study hyphal growth inhibition and drug efficacy dependent on host immunity.
Recent research highlights include elucidating CLR/TLR signaling pathways, macrophage contributions to immune defense, and the impact of host genetics on pathogen outcomes. Her studies bridge fundamental immunology with translational applications for treating immunocompromised patients.
Dr. Rosowski’s work has been published in journals like Journal of Immunology, Infection and Immunity, and PLOS Pathogens. She actively mentors students in lab research and collaborates with institutions like MIT and Purdue University on fungal pathogenesis projects.
