Emily Bivens is an Associate Professor of 4D and Time-Based Art and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her work spans installations, stop-motion animation, taxidermy, and video projections, recontextualizing domestic objects to disrupt familiar narratives. She holds an MFA from the University of Colorado Boulder and a BFA from Colorado State University.

Research Interests: Bivens explores themes of animate/inanimate duality through installations that blend taxidermy, video, and sound. Her works, such as Pet Hawk, challenge viewers by skewing domestic object orientations and creating layered narratives.

Advising & Grants: Bivens has secured grants to support her interdisciplinary art practice. She collaborates with The Bridge Club, exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Texas Biennial.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with The Bridge Club, an artist collective active in new media and installation art.
