Emily Bernate is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at St. Edward's University, located within the School of Arts and Humanities. She holds a Master's degree and completed Ph.D. coursework at the University of Houston. Her research focuses on sociolinguistics and pragmatics, particularly gender differences in language use and politeness norms in US Spanish contexts.
