Emilio F. Moran

Emilio F. Moran is the John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor at the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences in Michigan State University's College of Social Science. He is a member of the Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability and the Center for Global Change and Earth Observation.

His research combines remote sensing with ground-level methods to study population movements, forest transitions, and resource management in tropical regions. Recent work focuses on soybean trade impacts, climate change adaptation, and deforestation linkages to agricultural markets.

Scientific awards include the Distinguished Partner Award for International Community-Engaged Scholarship. Supported by grants from NSF, NIH (NICHD), and FAPESP (Brazil), his projects train students in interdisciplinary collaboration and satellite-ground data integration.
