Dr. Emilie Larrivee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She serves as Coordinator of Clinical Services for the Julie Atwood Speech, Language, and Literacy Center. Holding dual licensure in Massachusetts (Specialist Teacher and Special Education Administrator), she specializes in pediatric speech-language-literacy disorders across diverse clinical and educational settings.
Her education includes a BA in Visual Arts from Roger Williams University, an MS in Speech-Language Pathology from MGH-IHP, and a CAGS in School Leadership in Special Education from American International College. Her expertise spans clinical practice integration, culturally responsive literacy development, and technology-enhanced assessment methods.
Key research interests focus on bridging theory/practice gaps in clinical education, addressing disparities in special education systems, and optimizing interventions for neurodiverse learners. Her recent work explores anti-oppressive aspects of educational materials and structured writing interventions for language-disordered populations.
Recipient of two Partners in Excellence Awards (2019 & 2023) from Mass General Brigham, Dr. Larrivee leads innovative training programs for graduate clinicians and actively presents at national conferences like the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading and ASHA Convention. She coordinates interdisciplinary clinical practicums and teaches electives on SLP in school settings.
