Emiliano Renzi

Emiliano Renzi is a Professor of Industrial Mathematics at Northumbria University (since 2023) and a Visiting Professor at Loughborough University. His academic journey includes a PhD in Environmental Engineering (Fluid Mechanics) from the University of Rome Tor Vergata (2010), with a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT. He has held positions at University College Dublin and Loughborough University, including an AXA Research Fellowship.

His research focuses on applied mathematics in fluid dynamics, particularly wave modelling, tsunami dynamics, and offshore renewable energy. Key interests include nonlinear wave phenomena, hydrodynamic performance of energy devices, and the interplay between meteorological and oceanographic processes.

Recent publications emphasize wave energy extraction mechanisms, hydroelastic theory for floating structures, and the analysis of extreme events like meteotsunamis. His work bridges theoretical models with real-world applications in coastal engineering and renewable energy systems.
