Emiliano Bilotti is a Professor in Multifunctional and Sustainable Polymer Composites at Imperial College London's Department of Aeronautics within the Faculty of Engineering. He joined Imperial in 2022 after holding academic roles at Queen Mary University of London, including Reader, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer. His career includes industrial R&D as Research and Technology Manager at Nanoforce Technology (2010–2011). He earned a 'laurea' (MEng equivalent) in Materials Engineering from the University of Naples 'Federico II' (Italy, 2004), followed by a PhD (2009) and postdoc (2009–2010) at Queen Mary University of London, focusing on polymer/clay nanocomposites and smart textiles.
His research spans multifunctional polymers, sustainable materials, energy storage, nanotechnology, and advanced composites. He leads a group recruiting PhD students in areas like Green Transport and Environmental Remediation. Teaching responsibilities include AERO50005 Materials 2, AERO70031 Emerging Technologies for Green Aviation, and AERO70027 Composites Engineering Practice. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice.
Recent work emphasizes recyclable composites, smart thermoelectric materials, and energy-efficient manufacturing. Over 130 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 47), 5 book chapters, and 6 patents demonstrate his impactful contributions. His lab integrates material synthesis, characterization, and application-driven innovation.
