معرفی
Emile Chappin is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology, where he leads the Energy and Industry Group and co-directs the TPM Energy Transition Lab. His work focuses on simulation modeling, particularly agent-based approaches, to analyze socio-technical energy systems and their policy-driven transitions.
- Doctorate in Simulating Energy Transitions (2011)
- MSc in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management (2006)
- BSc in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management (2004)
His research explores the interplay between modeling methodologies and long-term energy system dynamics, with applications to climate resilience, smart grid ethics, and emergent behaviors in decentralized energy systems. Recent projects include:
- Align4Energy: Combining digital engagement and behavioral interventions for clean energy investments
- Y-factor: Interactive tool for evaluating carbon abatement options across cost, complexity, and behavioral dimensions
- TPM Energy Transition Lab: Interdisciplinary research on equitable energy transitions
His publications emphasize simulation techniques for energy policy analysis, with notable works on smart thermostat diffusion, climate abatement frameworks, and electricity market modeling. Collaborations span EU-wide studies and local initiatives in Rotterdam and Dutch cities.
