معرفی
Ryu Koide is a visiting researcher at the Energy and Industry (E&I) Group, Department of Engineering Systems and Services (ESS), Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management (TPM) at Delft University of Technology. He also holds a senior researcher position at the Material Cycles Division, National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) in Japan.
Education:
- Doctorate in Technology Management for Innovation, University of Tokyo (2015)
- Master's in Government Analytics, Johns Hopkins University (2019)
- Bachelor's in Resources and Environmental Engineering, Waseda University (2012)
Koide’s research focuses on policy and behavioral changes to advance a circular economy and decarbonized lifestyles, using interdisciplinary quantitative methods. His work integrates agent-based modeling and simulation, life cycle assessment (e.g., carbon footprint analysis), and consumer surveys (e.g., choice experiments) to explore pathways toward achieving sustainability targets. He emphasizes exploratory modeling that bridges forecasting and backcasting, identifying multiple scenarios for (un)achieving decarbonization and circularity goals.
His recent research (2025) centers on circular economy strategies, regional sensitivity analysis for resource management, and climate action commitment using carbon footprint data in Japan. These studies align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly responsible consumption (SDG 12) and climate action (SDG 13).
Scientific Awards:
- Fellow at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) since 2020
