Emil Lou, MD, PhD, FACP is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation at the University of Minnesota Medical School. His research focuses on advancing CRISPR-engineered immunotherapies, understanding tumor microenvironment dynamics, and developing AI-driven liquid biopsy platforms for precision oncology. He actively investigates therapeutic resistance mechanisms in gastrointestinal cancers and neuroendocrine neoplasms through molecular and immunological characterization.
- Broad research areas: Hematology, Oncology, Immunotherapy, CRISPR-Cas9, Liquid Biopsy
- Clinical focus: Gastrointestinal cancers, neuroendocrine tumors, glioblastoma, and ovarian cancer
- Key technologies: Multi-omic analysis, AI-based diagnostics, Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocyte engineering
His recent work includes first-in-human trials for CRISPR-edited T-cell therapies and biomarker discovery for immune checkpoint inhibitors. Awards include recognition as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).
