Emil Kraugerud is a Research Fellow in the Department of Musicology at the University of Oslo, specializing in music production studies with a focus on technology's role in shaping popular music practices. He holds a PhD (2021), MPhil (2016), and BA (2014) in Musicology from the University of Oslo. His current postdoctoral research in the PLATFORM project examines how digital music production tools (e.g., Ableton, Apple, Avid) influence creative workflows through interviews, interface studies, and marketing analyses.
Research interests include record production aesthetics, sound analysis, music-technology interfaces, and the cultural implications of production tools. His work spans academic publications, discography credits (e.g., co-producing albums), and contributions to projects like the Nordic Sounds Research Group. Funded by the Research Council of Norway (grant no. 324344), his research bridges musicological theory with technological innovation.
