Emiko Taniguchi-Dorios is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communicology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, affiliated with the College of Social Sciences. She specializes in interpersonal health communication, social support, family communication, and cross-cultural communication, with a focus on Japanese and US cultures.

Her research examines communication in sensitive health contexts, particularly mental illness disclosure and its outcomes, as well as familial and peer communication related to body image and appearance management behaviors. She aims to understand strategies for sharing private health information and providing effective support to loved ones.
She teaches courses in interpersonal and relational communication, family communication, communicology theories, and cross-cultural communication. In 2023, she received the College of Social Sciences Award for Excellence in Teaching.
