Melo's research focuses on Microeconomic Theory, Game Theory, and Applied Microeconometric Methods, with applications in transportation networks, rational inattention, and discrete choice modeling. His work bridges theoretical economics with empirical methods, analyzing network congestion, strategic behavior, and systemic risk.
Recent publications explore topics like recursive logit models, quantal response equilibria, and rational inattention in networked markets. He has also contributed to robustness analysis in discrete choice models and behavioral economic theory involving wishful thinking and censored beliefs.
