Emanuel Towfigh

Prof. Dr. Emanuel Towfigh is a faculty member at EBS Law School, where he holds the chair in Public Law, Empirical Legal Research, and Law & Economics. He also serves as a Professor for Law & Economics at the Department for Management & Economics of EBS Business School. Since 2018, he has been the Dean of EBS Law School.

Towfigh’s research focuses on public law, empirical legal studies, and the intersection of law and economics. His work includes a Habilitation thesis on the paradox of political parties and their relationship with democracy, as well as a doctoral dissertation on the legal constitution of religious communities, exemplified by the Baháʼí.

He has held academic positions at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods and served as a Visiting Professor at New York University and the University of Virginia. His affiliations include being a Research Affiliate in the Engel Research Group.
