Emanuel Fiano is an Associate Professor of Theology at Fordham University’s Department of Theology. His academic journey includes a Laurea triennale in Religious Studies from Sapienza University of Rome, followed by an MA and PhD in Early Christianity from Duke University. He has held prestigious fellowships at Dumbarton Oaks Research Library, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, CNRS in Paris, and UC Berkeley as a Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellow.
Dr. Fiano’s research focuses on late ancient Christian intellectual history, with particular emphasis on Syriac and Coptic literature, Trinitarian controversies, and the intersection of law and theology in early Christian thought. His 2023 monograph *Three Powers in Heaven* redefines scholarly understanding of early Christian-Jewish theological divergences. Current projects explore the role of law-theology interplay in shaping late Roman orthodoxy.
His teaching spans Sacred Texts of the Middle East, Syriac/Coptic languages, and courses on ancient theological controversies.
