Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenzمعرفی
Eman Shokry Hesham is a Researcher and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Florence. She also serves as a visiting researcher at the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo. Her research focuses on the opus sectile floor art of the Mamluk Period in Egypt (1250–1517 AD), exploring intercultural dialogue and knowledge transfer across the Mediterranean. Her work contextualizes Mamluk architectural decorations, emphasizing transcultural and global perspectives in art history. Eman has received the Oleg Grabar Postdoctoral Grant and a Postdoc Scholarship from the Preußischer Kulturbesitz to support her research, including investigations into the unpublished archive of Michael Meinecke at the Museum für Islamische Kunst Berlin. Her projects highlight mobility of art in the Late Medieval Mediterranean and the synthesis of historical research with contemporary debates on cultural heritage and urbanization.
