Emad Sheikh al-Hokamaee is a visiting scholar at the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC) from 15 March to 15 April 2024 and serves as Head of the 'Epigraphy and Archives' section at the Institute of Archaeology, University of Tehran. His expertise spans epigraphy, seals, paper, and archival documents of Islamic Iran from the early Islamic period to the Qajar era.
- Research Focus: Epigraphic and archival studies, evolution of epistolary writing in pre-modern Iran, local history of Southern Iran.
- Publications: Over 100 articles, notable works include catalogues of Ardabil judicial documents and studies on Ilkhanid private documents.
- Projects: Finalizing an edition of Muḥammad Ṭāhir Iṣfahānī’s Ṣarīḥ Al-Milk, exploring manuscript reuse and scribal practices in late medieval Eurasia.
- Academic Engagement: Regular contributor to the journal Bokhārā, lecturer at EPHE (Paris, 2008) and Philipps-Universität Marburg (2012–2014).
