Elvira Basevich is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, specializing in 19th/20th century philosophy, political philosophy, and Africana philosophy. Her work focuses on W.E.B. Du Bois, particularly his political thought and theories of economic justice. She is writing a book on Du Bois’s life and political ideas and plans another on his theory of economic justice. Basevich emphasizes expanding political philosophy to include marginalized voices and critiques traditional Western philosophy through historical and social contexts.
