Education:
- PhD in Social Policy (2022)
Research Focus: Elroy’s work centers on homelessness, institutionalisation, psychosocial disability, and human rights. Recent studies emphasize environments supporting young people with disabilities, deinstitutionalisation, and housing policy. They critically examine NDIS implementation and its impact on residents in supported housing and institutions.
Research Trends: Their 2025 publications highlight geographic environments for youth wellbeing and Bourdieusian analyses of NDIS 'choice' mechanisms. Earlier work (2021–2024) critiques transinstitutional settings and homelessness frameworks. Collaborations bridge policy, advocacy, and urban studies.
Grants & Advising: No formal student advisees listed, but Elroy’s policy roles involved guiding institutional reforms. Their advocacy experience directly informs applied research projects.
Labs/Teams: Embedded in RMIT’s Global Urban and Social Studies research cluster, collaborating with health equity and disability policy networks.
