Elo LK Reiss is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer working at the Interdisciplinary Institute for Behavioral Science-Oriented Management at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) and the Department of Organization at Copenhagen Business School. Her academic career spans diversity management, intersectional feminism, and organizational behavior with a strong focus on social inequalities.
Reiss completed her bachelor's degree at WU Vienna in 2016 with a focus on diversity management and change management, followed by a master's degree in Business, Language and Culture at Copenhagen Business School. Her educational background directly informs her current research trajectory examining how gender, social class, and other identity markers intersect to shape career trajectories and workplace experiences.
Her research interests center on intersectional inequality, feminist organizing, queer activism, vulnerability, and collective resistance in organizational contexts. Using intersectional feminist approaches, she investigates how social inequalities related to racism, sexism, classism, and heterosexism manifest in workplaces and how individuals and groups resist these structures. Her work often employs qualitative methodologies to explore the lived experiences of marginalized groups in organizational settings.
Analysis of Reiss's publication history from 2021-2023 reveals consistent thematic focus on intersectionality, particularly examining how gender and social class interact to shape career outcomes and workplace experiences. Her research demonstrates methodological diversity, employing both qualitative case studies and longitudinal quantitative analyses to examine vulnerability, resistance, and unconscious bias in organizational contexts across multiple national settings including Austria, Russia, and international comparisons.
Reiss serves as a member of the editorial board for the journal Gender, Work & Organization and directs the Queer Feminist Research Network, demonstrating her commitment to advancing feminist and queer perspectives in organizational studies. She actively contributes to scholarly discourse through conference presentations and collaborative research projects examining social inequalities from intersectional perspectives.
As an academic supervisor, Reiss guides bachelor's and master's students on topics related to social inequalities and resistance in organizational contexts. Her teaching and supervision reflect her research interests, focusing on practical applications of intersectional theory to understand and address systemic inequalities in workplaces. She has participated in numerous academic conferences as both presenter and co-author, contributing to scholarly conversations about career studies, diversity management, and organizational behavior from critical perspectives.
Through her role directing the Queer Feminist Research Network, Reiss facilitates collaborative research and knowledge exchange among scholars working at the intersection of gender, sexuality, and organizational studies. Her work connects academic research with practical applications for creating more equitable workplaces, particularly through examining unconscious bias in HR practices and exploring pathways for collective resistance against discriminatory structures.
