Elmarie Botha

Elmarie Botha is an Assistant Professor and Co-Director of the MSN CLE Program at Samuel Merritt University. She transitioned from clinical nursing in South Africa and Saudi Arabia to academia in 2010 as an adjunct faculty, becoming full-time in 2013. Her teaching focuses on critical care, cardiac nursing, and nursing education, with a passion for mentoring students in caring for critically ill patients and preparing future nurse educators and leaders.

Scholarly Interests: Mindfulness techniques to reduce nurse incivility and course development for the MSN CLE program. She actively engages in community service through Sigma Theta Tau and outreach at Allen Temple Baptist Church and local schools.

Professional Roles: Former clinical experience in surgical and cardiac ICUs, transition to U.S. nursing in 2003, and over a decade of teaching at Samuel Merritt University.
