Elly Selby is an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) for the MSc Engineering and Education programme at University College London's Institute of Education (IOE), with additional teaching roles in Bartlett School of Architecture's Cinematic and Videogame Architecture MArch and Architecture and Interdisciplinary Studies BSc. She is concurrently completing a PhD in Architecture and Digital Theory at Bartlett, examining how digital computation (especially generative AI) transforms authorship paradigms in architecture and media.
Her research critically intersects architecture, art history, law, and computer science, focusing on:
- Re-defining authorship in AI-driven creative processes
- Ethical implications of synthetic media and blockchain
- 'Flat authorship' models challenging hierarchical knowledge structures
- Bias analysis in generative systems and bidirectional digital platforms
She holds a Master of Architecture and BA in Architectural Studies from the University of Toronto. Professional experience includes architectural practice in Toronto and Verona, specializing in affordable housing. She co-founded the design collective GAMBJTS, which exhibited at the 2021 Seoul Biennale addressing urban resiliency through projects like Beneath the City: Rivers.
