Dr. Ellie Hayes is a Research Fellow at Newcastle University, focusing on nutritional strategies for aging populations. Her work bridges exercise physiology, metabolic health, and dietary interventions. She completed her BSc at the University of Exeter and earned MRes and PhD degrees in Musculoskeletal Ageing from Newcastle University (2023).
Her research explores how nutrition impacts recovery in older adults, including dietary nitrate's effects on blood pressure and frailty prevention. She leads a team assessing a nutrition education app for seniors through EPSRC NortHFutures funding. Additional interests include thyroid health in metabolic disorders and sarcopenia management.
