E.E. (Ellie) Harding is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Groningen (RUG), holding dual affiliations in the Faculty of Arts (Linguistics & English as a Second Language) and the Faculty of Medical Sciences (Perceptual and Cognitive Neuroscience). She also serves as a Policy Adviser at the Research School of Behavioural and Cognitive Neurosciences (BCN). Her work focuses on language and music cognition, speech perception in cochlear implant users, and the intersection of hearing loss with music and vocal emotion processing.
- Research Interests: Cochlear implant outcomes, speech-in-noise perception, emotion perception in music and voice, group singing interventions for hearing-impaired populations.
- Key Projects: Co-PI of the SingWell Project (multisite hearing-loss intervention study), lead on the Gehoor in Koor initiative (choir programs for older adults with hearing loss), and developer of the CI GAME (musical training for cochlear implant users).
- Awards: Dorhout Mees Stichting grant (2020), RUG Interdisciplinary Fund (2022), Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie (2024).
Her research combines behavioral experiments, machine learning analyses, and clinical trials to address challenges in auditory perception and rehabilitation.
