Ellie Gore is a Lecturer in Global Political Economy at the University of Manchester's Department of Politics. She previously held fellowships at the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) and the University of Sheffield's Department of Politics. Her research focuses on feminist and queer political economy, examining how development policies impact gendered and sexual power relations, particularly in West Africa. Current projects include an ESRC-funded study on labor exploitation among Ghanaian migrant workers.
Research Interests: Global development policy on health/decent work, feminist social reproduction theory, queer political economy, and unfree labor in global supply chains. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in Ghana, including a Visiting Fellowship at the University of Ghana.
Key Awards: ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship (SPERI), Global Challenges Research Fellowship. Active in supervising PhD students aligned with her expertise in gender, sexuality, and political economy.
Grants & Projects: Leading an ESRC New Investigators project on migrant labor in Ghana. Previously explored cocoa supply chains and gendered forced labor dynamics.
