Dr. Ellen Kranenbarg-Stolte is a faculty Teacher at Wageningen University & Research in the field of Experimental Zoology. Her research focuses on immunology, microbiology, and microbiome interactions with applications in influenza vaccination, adjuvant therapy, and macrophage biology.
- Key research areas: Arabinoxylan, Lactobacillus, microflora, polysaccharide immunomodulation
Her recent publications highlight interdisciplinary work bridging food science, nanotechnology, and clinical immunology, with a focus on translating microbial and dietary components into therapeutic applications. She co-supervised the PhD project Exploiting microbiome to prevent and treat human diseases (2015-2020) and contributed to datasets on porcine tonsillar microbiota.
Research trends include:
- Modulating M2 macrophage activity via dietary fibers
- Developing nanoparticle-based antimicrobial therapies
- Elucidating IL-22-STAT3 pathway in intestinal health
- Probiotic Lactobacillus for bile modification
- Adjuvant polysaccharide applications in vaccinations
