Ellen Karoline Henriksen is a Professor of Physics Education at the University of Oslo’s Department of Physics and holds a 20% position as a professor at OsloMet’s Faculty of Education and International Studies. She obtained her PhD in Science Education from the University of Oslo in 1999, with prior studies in biophysics and physics at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on science teacher education, inquiry-based learning, student motivation in STEM, and the integration of programming into science education. She leads projects such as ReleQuant (quantum physics education) and TRELIS (teacher research literacy).
Her work spans curriculum development for physics and science education, including courses like FYS 5810 and collaborations on in-service teacher training programs. Administrative roles include secretary general of the Norwegian Association of Physics Teachers and leadership roles in the Nordic Expert Panel and European Science Education Research Association (ESERA). Her recent publications emphasize teacher perspectives on quantum physics education, programming in teacher training, and motivation dynamics in undergraduate physics.
