Ellen Francese is a faculty member at Berklee College of Music, teaching Music History and Liberal Arts, and Music Theory, Harmony, and Ear Training since 2006. She holds a master’s degree from Simmons College and has over three decades of teaching experience. Her work focuses on fostering global citizenship and social responsibility through service learning initiatives. Notable projects include programs for international students, service projects in Latino neighborhoods and teen facilities, and music education programs in South Africa and Haiti. She has received multiple awards for her dedication, including the Urban Service Award and the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
- Service Initiatives: Organized music lessons for the homeless, nursing home concerts, and instrument petting zoos for immigrant preschoolers.
- Global Programs: Developed after-school music programs in South Africa via Skype and a program for Haitian orphans.
