Prof. Dr. Ellen Fogh (*1989) is an Assistant Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), holding the Assistant Professorship of Quantum Magnetism within the Department of Physics at the TUM School of Natural Sciences. Her research focuses on experimental condensed matter physics with particular emphasis on magnetism.
Her research interests include:
- Experimental condensed matter physics
- Quantum magnetism
- Neutron scattering techniques
- Magnetic fields and pressure effects on materials
- Quantum states in magnetic materials
Prof. Fogh's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on quantum magnetic phenomena, particularly in frustrated spin systems like SrCu2(BO3)2. Her work combines high magnetic fields, high pressure, and neutron scattering to investigate exotic quantum states and phase transitions. The research has important implications for fundamental physics and potential applications in quantum technology.
Her scientific achievements have been recognized with the Lewis-Bertaut Prize (2021) and the Interreg MAX4ESSFUN grant (2017).
- Lewis-Bertaut Prize (2021)
- Interreg MAX4ESSFUN grant under ESS & MAX IV: Cross Border Science and Society (2017)
Prof. Fogh leads a research group focused on understanding how quantum magnetic states form and how they can be tailored for potential applications in quantum technology. Her group specializes in using neutron scattering techniques in combination with extreme conditions (magnetic fields and pressure) to investigate spin interactions in materials.
