Ellen Flaaten serves as a PhD Research Fellow in the Department of Psychosocial Health at the University of Agder, actively contributing to interdisciplinary research on mental health and substance-use challenges through qualitative methodologies.
Her research centers on psychosocial dynamics within social networks, emphasizing reflexive negotiation and meaning-making processes among vulnerable populations. Key interests include mental health interventions, substance-use disorder frameworks, and the societal dimensions of health policy, with strong methodological grounding in qualitative analysis.
Flaaten is a core member of the Society, Space, Psychosocial Health (SSPH) research group, where she collaborates on projects examining spatial and societal influences on health outcomes.
