Ellen Feiss is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at Providence College. She specializes in modern and contemporary art of Europe and the Americas within imperial and global contexts, with a focus on feminist and historical materialism approaches to art theory. Her research explores art's social utility in revolutionary contexts and justice processes.
She holds a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley and was a Presidential Postdoctoral Scholar at Ohio State University. Her work examines intersections of art, critical theory, and power structures through the lens of race, gender, and sexuality.
