Ellen D.B. Riggle is Professor of Political Science and Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Kentucky's College of Arts and Sciences. She received her PhD from University of Illinois and holds affiliations with the Center for Equality and Social Justice, Health Society and Populations, and Peace Studies programs.
Her research examines positive identity development, health disparities for LGBTQ individuals, effects of minority stress on wellbeing, and the impact of law/policy issues on LGBTQ individuals and couples. She employs qualitative and mixed methodologies to investigate intersections of identity, law, and wellbeing.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on LGBTQ experiences across diverse contexts including marriage equality debates, political campaigns, and health interventions. Recent work examines hypervigilance measurement and positive identity interventions.
